From Lyceum Howard Rifkin

From Howard Rifkin...

If we have learned nothing else about affordable, safe housing creation over the years, it is that a secure, affordable home is simply not enough. People need to live in communities and neighborhoods that provide access to transportation, libraries, parks, athletics, a wide array of services and, at or near the top of the list, access to wholesome, affordable food.

We are lucky enough June 30 to have Molly Anderson coming to the Lyceum at 8:30am for the final IForum before the summer. Ms. Anderson is a preeminent policy specialist in the area of food insecurity, widely respected by her colleagues, and able to clearly explain to a range of audiences the nation's cutting-edge strategies to combat food insecurity.

Her talk, "A Home's Not Just a House: Why Food Security Must Be Part of a Strong, Affordable Community" will be followed by a response panel of experts, and tours of the Billings Forge Community Works and its farmers' market that day.

This event will be valuable to those not only in the community development, planning, food security and housing creation fields, but also for those who deal with children and families in the education, healthcare and child development fields.
